This fortnight's challenge theme is to showcase a project using
Your Favourite: People or Animals (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I seem to veer towards critters in most of my cards and I'm a huge fan of anything cute and furry both in crafting and life in general!  I especially love kitties who are usually quite cuddly (there's nothing better than a lap full of purring kitty), but it's the bunnies at LOTV who are some of my favourite crafting critters.  I think this image featuring them sitting on their wintry log is adorable.

Samantha
Its a difficult choice and even real life I sometimes prefer animals too!
haha! SO I choose Animals and this time I have crochet a magical unicorn.

I love my animals, they are so fun to color!  Hair for humans is my nemesis, but I'm working on it!

Elaine

I much prefer colouring animals for my cards. People are a bit of a challenge for me, so I only use them when I have to.

I am definitly an animal person. I am not really happy with how I colour hair and that is why I most of the times don't colour people. And I really love cute animal, I love how many artist draw really cute scenes/images with animals and I really love colouring them.

Lynne

I much prefer colouring cute animals rather than people. They always seem more versatile   and, for me, easier to colour.

It's people for me, I love playing around with my alcohol markers trying out different skin tones.

Although I have made a lot of people cards recently, I do love the animals more,
they tend to suit more occasions and are more versatile for male or female recipients.

My favorite is animals, because they are more versatile (for me) than people.

So now it's over to you.
We hope you will join in our challenge, show us your style and
showcase Your Favourite: People or Animals (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Good luck, and happy crafting.

Choose Ribbon or Flowers (and tell us Why)

Thank you to everyone who entered our last challenge.
Our winner is:

Shuly

I loved this one (and the other entry Shuly linked up) and her choice of paper was unique (it was not a design paper as the rest of us picked, me included, but instead a paper from her grandpa's old company that she used for stamping - what a lovely family connection!)

This fortnight's challenge theme is to showcase a project using
Your Favourite: Choose either Flowers or Ribbon.
To win the prize, you MUST explain WHY you've made that choice.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I love adding ribbon to my cards especially double bows.  I have lots of ribbons in different colours to match the colour theme of my card and love the texture they add.  I often use them to cover joins in backing papers but today's card showcases a simple use in a spotty aqua design to match the paper.

I would have to pick ribbons as my favorite.  I have always loved ribbon and have quite a collection including some wonderful vintage silk ribbon.  Ribbon can add elegance, fun and even cover imperfection.

Elaine

This is a hard one for me. I love to add ribbon and flowers to my cards. I have opted for flowers this time as a main feature. I like the versitility of adding fowers as a small embellishment too.

Although I have a lot of flower dies and punches, I don't use them very often on my cards. At the moment I prefer using ribbon on my cards. My cards are really simple most of the times and I think a ribbon looks better than flowers, because they can make a card a bit busier.

I do have quite a lot of both, but it depends who the card is for and whether it's to be posted.  I love to add flowers as they add texture and make the card special for the recipient.

I don't use either very often but you are more likely to see ribbon on my card as I have so much of it!! There are such a range of textures colours and widths these days and they add interest and texture to any card or project.

OK, so, here's the dilemma, I don't often use ribbons or flowers!
I have tried in the past, but "dog's dinner" comes to mind, froo-froo just isn't
my style.  So, I furtled about in the stash to see which of the two evils I have the
most of, and was horrified to find a rather sizeable collection of flowers, so I thought I had better use some!

Flowers! I don't use them very often, but when I do I like to make small bunches of flowers, leaves, stamens and thread.

So now it's over to you.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I have fallen in love with Maja Design papers and in particular the Vintage Romance stack is one of my (current) favourites because of the pretty florals and pastel colours.  I love both sides of this particular page from this pad so I hate to see papers stuck down on a card when the reverse is wasted.  For this reason I've made a little gift box which shows both sides. As well as being on show in the inside, you can see the reverse on the flaps and I've also used some scraps to make two dinky little tags which I've stuck together at an angle and fixed on with a foam pad.

I love Doodlebug Designs paper pads.  I love them all, I cannot pick a favourite.  Their whimsical designs and bright happy colours make me smile.  This card was made with my favourite Halloween pad, October 31.

Elaine

I have a few favourite paper pads. This is one I go back to every year the LOTV Frosty Christmas.

It was really hard to pick just one favourite paperpad, because I have a couple of paperpads that I really love, but in the end I decided to pick the paperpad Sweet celebrations paperpack from My favorite things. I love this paperpad because it so versatile. There are cute multi coloured patterns but also really simple patterns in just one colour (with 2 shades of that same colour). I love how these colours look together with kraft cardstock and I really enjoy using this paperpad.

I have a few favourite paper pads and they all tend to be Christmas ones!  I love First Edition Silent Night pad for wintery looking cards. A lot of them have glittery patterns on and it's a shame to cover them up and there are also quite a few in the pad that could be used for other occasions.

Favourite paper Pad...I have soooo many!! However, I recently managed to subscribe to the Craftwork Cards Julie Loves Collections and have been thrilled with the sweet prints contained therein, which suit my card making style.

Oh I have LOTS of favourite paper pads, lol, but one of my all time faves is from Nitwits (when LOTV used to sell them) and it is Petal Fresh.  It reminds me of newly laundered cotton sheets.  I am nearly at the end of my last pad, and it is going to break my heart when there is no more left.

Defintely Christmas paperpads from Doodlebug. I love the bright colours and designs. This is from the paperpad called North Pole.
